One of the many wonderful things about Australia is its different types of amphibia and reptiles. Australian reptiles include some of the following species; crocodiles, frogs, lizards, snakes and turtles. Each type of reptile has a group that is extremely diverse. In Australia, the number of reptile species is huge. Nowhere else in the world has the unique amount of reptiles as Australia. The largest reptiles live in Australia, the name of this creature is the Saltwater Crocodile.
Australia has a diverse amount of amphibians located in different parts of the country. An amphibian is considered a unique hybrid between fish and reptile. Amphibians are mostly dependent on water, surprisingly they are more dependent on water then most reptiles. The different types of Amphibians located in Australia include: toads, frogs, newts and salamanders. Australia is the home of 230 species of frogs and 93% of the frogs in Australia are considered endemic. Unlike the large population of reptiles located in the country, amphibians have a low amount of species. Scientists believe this might be because of the different climates around Australia.
